Racial Equality Group

The REG is a diverse cross-sector network of housing professionals who are committed to conversation and action about racial inequality within our sector and the communities it serves. While the focus of the Racial Equality Group is on racial equality and social housing overall, there is a particular focus on service delivery and the work housing associations do with communities.

Dele Ryder

Partnership and Fundraising Manager at A2Dominion, Racial Equality Group Chair

I have worked for A2Dominion Housing Group for over nine years as a Partnership and Fundraising Manager within community investment. I have a strong belief in equalities and diversity, and as the lead chair for HACT and the Centre’s Race Equality Group I want to ensure our that our membership is strong and diverse, we promote opportunities where black and minority ethnic voices can be heard, and we have a focus on securing resources and additional funding to deliver our core objectives.
If you want to join Basecamp, the network’s online collaboration space, please email adam.chester@hact.org.uk

You can also join our ‘New Opportunities’ Basecamp team, where we will post about new funding, collaboration or job opportunities that will be relevant for all of our networks. Link to join here

The Racial Equality Group organise public events for the social housing sector to come together on different aspects of racial equality, there are no regular meeting dates but all events held by REG are free to register for any social housing colleagues.

Events so far

Watch our recent event with Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, who discusses racial inequalities, his own experience from corporate experience into politics and his advice for more diversity in housing associations.

The Black History Month 365 fund is a collaborative fund launched by A2Dominion, MTVH and Catalyst, designed to support community groups to host events which promote black history and culture throughout the year, not just during Black History Month. If you would like your housing association to contribute funds and support community groups in your area, please contact adam.chester@hact.org.uk

Watch the recording from Tuesday 25 May 2021 when we were joined by David Lammy MP for a webinar to discuss how to be an anti-racist organisation, and what that means for the housing sector.

Held during National Inclusion Week, this “In conversation with..” focused on the topic of “So you want to do more about Racism?” with speakers Tom Murtha (NED of Nehemiah Housing) and Rosie Carter and Chris Clarke from Hope Not Hate.

Stay connected between meetings

The Centre uses Basecamp, an online collaboration space, to help network members stay connected in between meetings. On basecamp you can:
